MIA’s 2025

Celebrating Belgium’s music scene

Belgian music, one room, plenty of personality.

For the second year running, we developed the visual concept and branding for the MIA’s, connecting the live stage with the television production.

The MIA’s bring artists, the industry and the public together to celebrate homegrown talent. Working with VRT and Painting with Light (PWL), we built a visual world for both the people in the room and everyone watching at home. The task was to give the awards their own character and make that character work within the show, the stage and the broadcast.

The process

Good stage content starts with understanding the stage. We worked with a 3D model to see how the animation would sit across the screens and how the different surfaces would work together. That gave us a shared starting point for making creative decisions with the production team.

Then there is the view through the camera. A composition that fills a venue can read quite differently on television. We considered those camera views as we developed the animation, keeping both the room and the broadcast in mind. It is the kind of detail that shapes the work long before the show goes live.

A returning collaboration still deserves a fresh idea. For 2025, we started with a new concept and worked it through the graphic shapes, typography and artist imagery. Those elements gave us a visual language that could connect the different moments of the awards without taking the spotlight away from the music.

From early design frames to stage previews, we kept bringing the identity back to the setting it was made for. The result is a look that belongs to the MIA’s and works as part of the production around it. For us, that connection between design, motion and the people making the show is where the project comes together.
